Common Injuries

Car Accident Injuries We Treat

Some injuries show up right away. Others take days or weeks. These are the ones we see most often after auto accidents. Learn more about delayed injury symptoms after a car accident.

Whiplash & Neck Pain

A rapid back-and-forth movement of the head can strain the muscles, ligaments, joints, discs and nerve roots of the neck.

Back Pain

Impact forces can sprain the lower back, irritate spinal joints and set off painful muscle spasms.

Herniated Discs

A damaged disc can press on nearby nerves and cause pain, numbness or weakness in the arms or legs.

Headaches & Concussion Symptoms

Head and neck trauma can lead to headaches, dizziness and trouble concentrating that sometimes appear days later.

Pinched Nerves

Pressure on a nerve can cause pain, numbness, tingling and weakness along its path.

Muscle Spasms & Soft Tissue Injuries

Stretched or torn tendons, ligaments and muscles often cause stiffness that builds over the first few days.

Our Approach

How We Treat Auto Accident Injuries

Because every provider works in the same practice, your chiropractor, physical therapist and medical provider share notes and adjust your plan together. If conservative care isn’t enough, we refer you to the right specialist.

Chiropractic Care

Gentle spinal adjustments, manual therapy and flexion-distraction to reduce inflammation and restore normal motion.

Physical Therapy

Guided exercises and hands-on therapy to rebuild strength and range of motion in injured areas.

Medical Care

Our medical providers evaluate your injuries, manage your symptoms and coordinate your care with the rest of the team.

IV Therapy

IV hydration and nutrient therapy may support recovery for patients dealing with fatigue and inflammation.

Florida No-Fault Insurance

Florida PIP Insurance and Your Treatment

Florida is a no-fault state. Every registered car owner must carry at least $10,000 in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and $10,000 in property damage liability. PIP pays toward your medical care no matter who caused the accident, as long as you get initial treatment within 14 days.

PIP can also cover members of your household and certain passengers who don’t have a policy of their own. Our team verifies your coverage, helps you open your claim and provides complete medical documentation. We work with many personal injury attorneys and can refer you if you need one, but we do not provide legal advice. See the insurance plans we accept.

Go to the ER Right Away If You Have:

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Severe head or neck pain
  • Broken bones
  • Bleeding from the ears, nose or mouth
  • Vision changes
  • Abdominal swelling or tenderness
  • Signs of internal injury

If you’re unsure, call 911. Once you’re stable, we can take over your follow-up care.

FAQs

Auto Injury FAQs

After a car accident, it’s important to see a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating auto injuries. At Total Vitality Medical Group, our team includes chiropractors, physical therapists, and medical doctors experienced in treating accident-related conditions like whiplash, back pain, and soft tissue injuries.
You have 14 days to seek care from a doctor. We verify your insurance for you and even help you open your claim. Injuries might not show up immediately, so it’s important to get the documentation to your insurance company. If you wait longer than 14 days, your insurance will not cover the car accident.
Yes — symptoms like whiplash, concussions, or soft tissue damage often don’t appear immediately. Florida’s 14-day PIP law requires you to seek medical care within two weeks of the accident to be eligible for insurance benefits, even if you feel fine initially.
No referral is needed. You can contact any of our Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Brandon, or Tampa locations directly to schedule an appointment. We handle everything from initial evaluation to ongoing therapy and billing assistance.
A primary care doctor may not be equipped to handle the specific diagnostic or rehabilitative needs following a car crash. Our accident injury doctors specialize in post-accident care, including imaging, neuromuscular evaluations, and trauma-specific rehab protocols.
Yes — under Florida’s PIP (Personal Injury Protection) laws, chiropractic care is a covered medical service if treatment is sought within 14 days. Our licensed chiropractors work closely with other medical professionals to ensure full documentation and coordinated care.
Bring your photo ID, auto insurance information, any accident or police reports, hospital discharge papers (if applicable), and a list of current medications. This helps us create a personalized treatment plan and submit documentation for insurance claims.
If the injury is very serious and you feel your life is in danger, go to the hospital or urgent care. If the injury is not serious, a doctor’s office is a much more affordable option than the hospital. Urgent care centers are often overbooked with long wait times, and hospital visits can be very expensive — we’re a more convenient and more affordable choice.
Absolutely. While we don’t provide legal advice, we frequently coordinate with personal injury attorneys and can refer you to trusted professionals if needed. We also provide complete medical documentation to support your injury claim.
